Building Information Modeling (BIM): Clear Legal Corridor Approved

Countries around the world have actively approached and applied BIM to real projects, as well as researched and developed related standards and promised a technological change in the construction industry in the near future. Specifically, the UK has applied BIM for projects with a total investment of 5 million euros or more, in 2008 the US asked to apply BIM for construction projects of the Government. Nordic countries like Finland, Norway, Denmark are also home to BIM application software. Vietnam can keep up with the world level of BIM by continuously taking the lead in applying advanced technologies because the level, sensitivity, approach and adaptability of engineers are not inferior to other countries in the world.

“We realize that BIM is the key to helping domestic enterprises improve their competitiveness and reach out to the region and the world. Therefore, many units have invested in technical infrastructure and people to be ready to meet this inevitable trend in the construction field”. The good news for businesses is that in the Decisions No. 347/QD-BXD and 348/QD-BXD dated April 2, 2021 of the Ministry of Construction, there are general and detailed guidelines for the application of the Building Information Model. (BIM). In the near future, the Government will issue the BIM application roadmap for the period of 2023-2025, completing an important legal framework for construction investment projects.

The application of BIM technology in projects from project formulation, design, supervision, construction, operation, maintenance and state management throughout the project life is feasible, and will bring great benefits.
