“Moonlight on the River” – Award-Winning Architectural Concept for Tam Thanh Bridge
VTCO’s architectural concept “Moonlight on the River” was honored with the highest award (Second Prize – no First Prize was granted) in the national design competition for Tam Thanh Bridge, receiving a prize of VND 80 million.
This recognition not only affirms the creativity and aesthetic value of the proposal, but also reinforces VTCO’s capability in delivering iconic designs for projects of cultural and symbolic significance. The Quang Nam Project Management Unit for Transport Works has officially selected “Moonlight on the River” for further development, moving forward with procedures toward actual construction.
Design Inspiration
The design draws inspiration from the gentle beauty of the Truong Giang River, which flows parallel to the sea, evoking a sense of tranquility, vastness, and softness. The bridge appears like a moon reflected on the river’s surface, embodying elegance, lightness, and harmony with nature.
The signature element of the design is the three interlaced circles, symbolizing the unity of Vietnam’s North – Central – South regions, while also representing the blue sky – green land – and the sea, creating an architectural icon that integrates cultural symbolism with ecological harmony.
Project Overview

Location: On the extended National Highway 40B, Quang Phu Ward (Da Nang City, formerly Tam Thanh Commune – Tam Ky City, Quang Nam).
Structure: Crossing the Truong Giang River with a minimum width of 16 meters, accommodating at least 4 traffic lanes, designed for a travel speed of 80 km/h.
Investment: Approx. VND 400 billion (including contingency costs).
When completed, Tam Thanh Bridge will not only enhance regional connectivity with a modern transport facility, but also serve as a landmark of contemporary Vietnamese bridge architecture.
“Moonlight on the River” is more than a bridge — it is a cultural symbol, an engineering achievement, and a testament to VTCO’s vision for sustainable, iconic infrastructure.
