On the morning of April 28, 2022, Thu Thiem 2 bridge across the Saigon River connecting the existing city center to the new Thu Thiem urban area officially opened to traffic after 7 years of construction. The ceremony was organized by the HCM City Department of Transport and the investor, Dai Quang Minh Joint Stock Company (the investor), with the presence of many leaders at central and city levels.
Thu Thiem 2 Bridge connecting District 1 and District 2, spanning the Saigon River (Ho Chi Minh City) was started in February 2015 designed by WSP company (Finland), in which VTCO participates in the concept step of building an animation model. When put into use, the project is expected to connect the traffic of Thu Thiem new urban area with the center of Ho Chi Minh City, reducing traffic pressure for the Saigon Bridge and the tunnel crossing the Saigon River.
Thu Thiem 2 Bridge has a scale of 06 lanes, with a total length of 1,465m, of which the length of the bridge is 885.7m, designed as a cable-stayed bridge with the main tower in the shape of a 113m high Dragon bridge, leaning towards the capital. Thiem, is the symbol of the welcome gate from the city center through Thu Thiem New Urban Area. Along with artistic lighting design, Thu Thiem 2 Bridge will be an outstanding architectural highlight on the Saigon River both during the day and at night.
