According to the plan, right on New Year’s Day 2022, Quang Ninh will inaugurate Cua Luc 1 bridge and the sea border of Ha Long – Cam Pha. However, the province announced to postpone the inauguration time to focus on Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control and vaccinate the 3rd nose. Instead, the province still put these two works into use and opened to traffic on the first day of 2022 to restore people’s travel. Ha Long City has organized to collect people’s opinions on naming the bridge with 3 options including: Love, Cua Luc 1, Le Loi. After the end of the poll, the name Love Bridge received the most support with 39%.
Cua Luc 1 bridge project, started on April 28, 2020, with a total investment of 2,109 billion VND, from the provincial budget, the length of the whole route is 4,265 m. The main bridge is designed in the form of a concrete-filled steel pipe arch with 6 lanes of motorized vehicles, with a design speed of 60 km/h, which is a work that has made many breakthroughs in Vietnam’s bridge construction industry, arranged 5 continuous steel spans and does not need to arrange expansion joints in 5 arch spans up to 290m long. That is the superiority compared to conventional bridges in Vietnam today. This is the first 6-lane bridge in Quang Ninh, connecting the North and South areas of Ha Long City through Cua Luc Bay.
